2020 Annual General Meeting Held On-Line

As we all know 2020 was a very challenging year for us all both personally and as a club.  In mid November your Board Of Directors held a Zoom meeting in lieu of a traditional AGM which, for obvious reasons, was not possible this year.

The season began with lockdowns and many challenges to kayaking activities.  Both the pool sessions and Rendezvous had to be cancelled. Many of our traditional tripping destinations remained “off limits” for at least part of the paddling season.  The total number of trips offered was down 50% from last year at only 15.  Of those only 8 were actually run.

The Board early on recognized the challenges facing 2020 and decided to extend everyones membership by one additional year.  In our meeting all of the Board Members agreed to have their terms extended for one additional year.  Therefore there are no changes to the people or their positions on the Board for 2021.

The ability of the club to offer both pool sessions or Rendezvous for 2021 remains tenuous. Hopefully things will improve as spring arrives, in many ways, providing more paddling opportunities in 2021. You will shortly see that Keith Rodgers will be introducing us to the refurbished and improved website experience that Tom Thayer and he have been diligently developing.

If you would like more details as to the meeting contents that are traditionally presented at an AGM please feel free to contact Victoria Best or myself.
