Recently the Ontario Government has introduced new legislation governing Not-for-Profit Organizations. These changes pertain to GLSKA and have necessitated a complete review and revamp of our by-laws. Organizations have some latitude to change their by-laws in many areas and none in others. There is only a limited time window for us to act. Without us making changes to our by-laws the new Ontario legislation dictates most areas of how the organization must function.
For these reasons there is now an updated draft version to the by-laws prepared to provide GLSKA with the most beneficial version within our control.
At the Annual General Meeting there needs to be a vote by the members to adopt the draft to become the new by-laws governing GLSKA. This draft version is now posted on the website under the “GLSKA Documents” tab.
I encourage everyone to review the draft and forward any questions to myself prior to the meeting at (gardave@sympatico.ca). Hopefully in this way any concerns can be addressed prior to the meeting making the approval process a simple vote with no objections or outstanding concerns.
