Trip Description:

We will kayak from Rossport to Michipicoten (https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit…) from July 6, up to July 27, depending on weather, in 10+ paddling days (the most of the rest stops on the map can be used for camping, should we need it to rest longer or to stay safe if the weather turns bad).
The total trip’s time, including the rest, wind-bound and commuting days is estimated to 3 weeks. Total paddling distance is between 300 and 350 km depending on if we visit the Slate and Michipicoten islands, which will require calm weather. Joining for a part of the trip (for example from Pic River to Michipicoten) is possible too, but you will need to organize your car logistics yourself. We will get the forecast updates sent us via my Garmin sat pager on a daily basis. The car logistics and overnight accommodation before the start and after the finish will be provided by Naturally Superior Adventures.

Notes:

GEAR: Bring your own kayak and safety equipment, camping gear, food and supplies. A wet or dry suit is required as the water temperature of Lake Superior is cold at any time of year.
FEES: The fees of the outfitter for shuttling the cars ($295+HST a car) and camping with a hot shower available ($40+HST a person a night) have to be paid to the outfitter in advance. The camping fees in Pukaskwa National Park can be paid upon our arrival to the Visitor Center, where we are going to camp and rest (unserviced camping with shower at the Visitor Center is $28.50 a person a night; backcountry is $13.50 per person a night).
LAUNCH: July 6th, 2pm in Rossport Park or later if it is stormy (may need to camp or lodge at the launch). Depending on the wind and the launch time, we may choose to camp on Copper Island for the 1st night. Emergency exits are possible almost on any day during the 1st week of the trip. Once in Pukaskwa, exiting would require either to paddle back to the Visitor Center or forward to Michipicoten. We can camp for a night at the outfitter, or lodge at a motel before driving back to the city.

Meeting Location: We carpool to Rossport via Michipicoten where we camp at the Naturally Superior Adventures campground and get a driver(s) to shuttle our car(s) back to the exit.
Meeting Time: July 6th, 2pm in Rossport Park
