Beausoleil Island, Georgian Bay Island National Park May 4 – 6, 2018

We’ll be kayaking out of Honey Harbour next Friday afternoon and base camping on Beausoleil Island for the weekend with daily paddles to explore the adjacent islands.  Friday’s paddle is approximately 7km, Saturday’s paddle is variable but likely 10-15km and Sunday’s is about 20km. Wood tent platforms, outhouses, sheltered picnicking area and fire boxes are at the campsite as are some nice hiking trails on the island. The route is mostly sheltered. There is still some ice in the channels but the temps for the upcoming week should take care of that. This is a fairly easy first camping trip for the season making it a good opportunity to test your gear however COLD WATER SUBMERSION GEAR IS MANDATORY. The park doesn’t officially open until the May long weekend, so you will need to be self sufficient.  Email for further details and to express interest.  Further cold water paddling info can be found at:   https://glska.com/hello-world-2/#more-1191
