Past Trips & Paddles
27 – 30 June 2014 – Killarney – Georgian Bay
Launch from Town of Killarney and head south east for the first night of camping within approx. 2.5 hours of paddling. Will set up camp for 1-2 nights at the time and explore the islands between Killarney and the French River area. This trip will include exposed paddling between islands and as it is still early in the season, be prepared for cold water and cooler weather.
16 – 19 May 2014 – Franklin Island / Minks – Georgian Bay
***FULL*** We will meet up at Snug Harbor on the morning of Friday May the 16th and paddle over to a campsite. Over the course of the weekend and weather permitting we’ll have the option of paddling around Franklin Island, over to Snake Island or exploring the Islands off of Red rock lighthouse. If you are unable to arrive until Saturday morning let me know and we will try to start Saturday morning by paddling over to Snug Harbour.
Going on a GLSKA Trip?
This information is intended primarily for club members who have promised themselves that they will go on their first GLSKA member-organized trip. I have assumed that you may be fairly new to kayaking, and so have little or no experience of camping out of a kayak. To help, I have included some general information and a “what to bring” checklist.
Paddling With Whales
by Šárka Lhoták
I arrived at the Paradis Marin campground, parked the car and walked to the office to register. As I looked over the wide waters of the St.Lawrence estuary, I saw two white backs that slowly dove under water. Belugas! It couldn’t have been anything else, white like this! So they are really here!
