3-5 October 2014 Georgian Bay Storm Huddle

Description: The aim of this event is to bring together paddlers who enjoy rough water paddling. Safety will be the first priority. Participants should be experienced paddlers with appropriate cold water gear, a helmet, and a kayak that is suitable for rough water paddling. e.g. approximately 16 feet or less, with some rocker. If the weather is too nice for rough water paddling, then there are some interesting day trips in the area that will keep you busy. The base camp is a cottage with cooking facilities, etc. Participants can camp if they wish but there will be sufficient space for all to sleep indoors in case the weather is bad (which is good). Further details regarding accommodation and food sharing will be provided to participants.

Meeting place and time: Arrive at Bayfield Boat Club Marina Friday late afternoon or evening. One-half hour drive north of Parry Sound; just north of Pointe au Baril. Going north on Highway 400, turn left onto Highway 529 (going west), and left again onto Highway 529A (continuing west), through Thompson Marina to “Bayfield Boat Club” at the end of the road. There is a ten minute paddle to island. The total road trip from Toronto takes approximately three hours.
