This is considered a fall trip in the north, so it is likely that wind and weather will make it challenging. It is rated C4 due the possibility of dealing with 2m waves, long crossings in the fog and long paddling days (35km) when necessary. Participants should expect a required session before the trip to practise rescues, towing and discuss best practices for rough water. We will meet at Naturally Superior near Michipicoten on Sep 11 where we can camp on the beach (fees). NSA will shuttle us to a starting point at Sinclair Cove at the south end of the park on Sep 12 (at a cost of approximately $50 per person depending on the size of the group). The route back to Naturally Superior is less than 100 km, so it can easily be paddled in 5 days plus a possible wind day that could leave us beach bound for hiking and exploring.
Dry suit is required.
Depending on the pace of the group and the weather for this trip, there may be an option to continue north of Michipicoten towards Dog river and still return to Michipicoten by Sep 18.
