Please join us at our Annual General Meeting on Saturday, 17 November, 2018

Our featured speaker is Steve Ruskay, an experienced trip guide and paddling instructor. Steve has some cool views on warm socks and other paddling hints. At the meeting GLSKA members can vote on resolutions, join a committee to get things done, stand for election to the board – or just enjoy it as a social event.  The meeting will start at 1:30 pm with coffee and refreshments and a chance to catch up with old paddling friends, trade stories of trips and make plans for next year. The “business” part of the meeting will be kept as short as possible, but first we will have a presentation from a guest speaker that’s sure to whet your appetite for next year’s activities!

To learn more about Steve and see some really cool photography visit him on facebook.

OUR SPEAKER

Steve Ruskay, Lead Guide at Black Feather Wilderness Adventure Company

Steve has hiked, canoed and kayaked in every geographical region in Canada. This includes over 40 extended trips in the arctic. Steve has led numerous 30 plus day self supported expeditions including a circumnavigation of Anticosti Island, along the rugged Labrador coast, and across Northern Alberta and the NWT.  Steve has been consulted on outdoor program development, and is a recognized director of Instructor Training in sea kayaking, avalanche skills, and wilderness leadership, as well as an ice rescue and swift water rescue instructor. Steve works as the lead guide at Black Feather the Wilderness Adventure Company, and as a Paddling Ambassador for Kokatat.

Our venue this year is once again the

PORT CREDIT MEMORIAL ARENA  (Meeting in THE CREDIT ROOM)

40 Stavebank Road,  Port Credit

We will start at 1:30 pm and expect to wrap up by 5:30 pm. A formal Agenda will be sent out soon. Be environmentally friendly and bring along your own cup, plate and cutlery to use on the coffee, soft drinks and pizza we will be providing!

It’s not a requirement but it would be really useful if you could let us know if you plan to come – this gives us a chance to get the right amounts of pizza, coffee and chairs. Just send an email to our Secretary (keithrodgers@bell.net).
