Rendezvous 2019

Rendezvous 2019 Now Open For Registration!

Come and enjoy some of the best freshwater sea kayaking
in the world – right on our doorstep in Georgian Bay,
June 21 – 23.

IT’S BETTER IN THE BAY!
Come play, paddle or just relax with GLSKA members on, in or under the waters of the eastern shore of Georgian Bay, widely considered as being one of the best freshwater sea kayaking areas in the world.
Rendezvous 2019, our annual meet-up is once again being held on the campground at Oak Point, Parry Island.  And once again our timing (21 June – 23 June) neatly avoids a Fathers’ Day conflict (that’s 16 June). The site, located on a sheltered inlet offers us a huge selection of beautiful day or half-day paddles – some challenging, others perfect for beginners or those just wanting a gentle paddle on a pretty bay edged with a sandy beach.

THE OAK POINT CAMPGROUND
Our campsite is grassy and set among mature oaks on the reserve land of the Wasauksing Parry Island First Nation, next to the Wasauksing Marina about 25 km west-south-west of the town of Parry Sound. On a sheltered inlet, the site offers us a huge selection of beautiful whole or half-day paddles – some challenging, others perfect for beginners or those just wanting a gentle paddle on a pretty bay edged with a sandy beach.

MAKE A FRIEND, MEET A FRIEND OR BRING A FRIEND
The Rendezvous is open to all current members of GLSKA. Your guests and children are welcome too, but must be accompanied and sponsored by a current GLSKA member.

BRUSH UP YOUR SKILLS, LEARN NEW ONES OR JUST GET WET!
On Saturday we are again offering the popular skill-building sessions led by the expert and amiable staff of the White Squall Paddling Centre. Kayaking expert, teacher and guide Wayne Horodowych will also be on hand. Each day there will also be a selection of member-led trips. And hundreds of islands are waiting for those who like to paddle to their own beat.

ENJOY A WARM RECEPTION
The formal part of the program begins on Friday 21st June with various trip opportunities offered in the afternoon.  In the evening there will be a welcoming Wine and Cheese Reception – we supply the cheese, you bring the wine.

APPETITE, SAY HELLO TO OUR POT-LUCK DINNER
On Saturday evening appetites sharpened by paddling will meet their match at  our world-famous Pot Luck Dinner. You are invited to bring a contribution of a salad/starter, a main dish or a dessert.
After dinner we will enjoy the entertainment provided by singer-guitarist Peter Christenson. A talented multi-instrumentalist, Peter grew up near Parry Sound, early on developing a passionate interest in music. As a lyricist and performer Peter strongly believes in music as a universal language and looks forward to a musical conversation with us on Saturday.
