Rideau Canal – Kingston to Ottawa – September 25 to October 2

[alert message=”This trip is now full”] The Rideau Canal is a chain of beautiful lakes, rivers and canal cuts winding 202 km from Kingston to Ottawa. One of Canada’s historic canals and a Canadian Heritage River, the Rideau, is maintained and operated by Parks Canada to preserve and present the canal’s natural and historic features, as well as to provide a navigable channel. Plan to meet at Kingston Mills Lock 46. From there we will paddle and camp on the Rideau Canal System. The end point will be determined by the progress of the group. I have boated and paddled this trip in the past and find it a most enjoyable paddling vacation. Additional fees may include: locking through the system, camping at locks and a shuttle back to the vehicles. The locks provide a clean washroom and drinking water and some locks are located in or near communities where food and supplies may be purchased. For those interested, more information will be available closer to the trip date. Canal navigation charts are essential for safe boating and may be purchased at various lock stations or from the Friends of the Rideau. Charts 1512 and 1513.
