We stopped on Hen Island this June for lunch and saw wind turbines in the distance around Henvey Inlet. I have paddled the North Georgian Bay shoreline and islands area several times and think it is the best section of the Bay for camping, paddling and scenery. The plan for this trip is to make our way from Bayfield to One Tree Island to observe if the existence of wind turbines diminishes the wildness of this corner of Georgian Bay.
We launch on Thursday, July 16th in Bayfield and return on July 21st. We will make our way up to One Tree Island stopping to make camp for one night along the way; base camp on One Tree for three nights and explore the many islands in the area.
Participants should be comfortable making 5 km crossings and open water paddling in 0.5 to 1 meter waves. I recommend that you should have done at least one or two self-contained (non-guided) trips before, be in good shape, and be capable of a wet exit/entry and self rescue. Every participant is responsible for taking along all gear, food and fuel and be self-sufficient.
A Covid-19 Screening Questionnaire and more trip information will be provided to participants.
