Georgian Bay – Killarney: August 14-17, 2023

Trip Description:
We will launch on Monday 14th August at 12 noon from the town of Killarney and head east for the first night of camping within approx. 2.5 hours of paddling. We will set up a base camp for the 3 nights and explore the islands between Killarney and the French River area.

Please note:
This trip will include open water and exposed paddling between islands.
Parking is available for approx. $5/day at a local Church parking lot in Killarney.
Participants must be GLSKA members and experienced backcountry campers with all their own safety
and survival necessities (food + surplus of 1 day, bear care, water filter/supply, first aid, camping
equipment), and have fully seaworthy kayaks with necessary safety equipment (incl. PFD, back up
paddles and skirt).

GLSKA trip classification: C-2  (GLSKA Trip Classification)

C = Strenuous: Daily paddling typically more than 5 hours, with distances of 20 kilometers or more.
2= Intermediate: Requires basic paddling skills including the ability to brace, self-rescue, and participate in assisted rescues, comfortable in one-metre waves. Mostly protected waters, some difficult landings, and some sheltered spots for resting.
